Hello and welcome to Daily Commander!
Today we are going to be talking about Cult of Skaro!

Cult of Skaro is a four mana 4/4 with whenever it attacks you choose one of the abilities at random, and those abilities are: put a +1/+1 counter on each artifact creature you control, draw two cards, create a 3/3 black Dalek artifact creature token with menace, or each opponent loses 4 life.
Now recently a friend of mine got into Commander and the Doctor Who decks were one of the reasons why. Now they are deep into Magic, and me being an enabler for the hobby wanted to make a deck using one of the Commanders made for the decks.
Looking at the Cult of Skaro, and knowing a bit about them and going of their ability gave me an idea for what the deck wants to do. The plan for the deck is to get four Cult of Skaro onto the battlefield, as well as an army of other Daleks and artifact creatures to boot.

The first thing we need are not only ways to create copies of Cult of Skaro, but also make sure that they don’t die due to the legend rule.
Vesuvan Duplimancy is perfect for this because just so long as we cast a spell that targets Cult of Skaro, then we can make a token copy of it. We can choose other copy spells like Quantum Misalignment and Irenicus’s Vile Duplication to make an additional copy that isn’t legendary.
There are also creatures that come in as copies of a creature and don’t count as legendary like Auton Soldier, which also has myriad or Spark Double to also give itself a +1/+1 counter.
We also have access to Shaun, Father of Synths to create a tapped and attacking token of Cult of Skaro that only leaves the battlefield when Shaun leaves the battlefield.
If we are playing normal copy spells, then we can also play Mirror Box, Mirror Gallery, and The Master, Multiplied to just straight up ignore the legend rule.
With all of the copies of Cult of Skaro, we can gain a massive swing of advantages, even if what we get is random we still have a huge swing in our favor when we attack with the copies.

The next thing we need to look at are getting a ton of artifact creatures onto the battlefield as well as buffing them.
Looking at the other Universes Beyond decks, Skorpekh Lord is one avenue to give our other artifact creatures +1/+0 and menace as well as having Unearth. There is also Biotransference, which turns all our creatures, creature spells we control, and creature cards we own that aren’t on the battlefield into artifacts in addition to their other types, and when we cast an artifact spell, we lose a life and make a 2/2 Necron.
We can also use Cyberman Patrol to give all of our artifact creatures afflict 3 and Cybermen Squadron to give our nonlegendary artifact creatures myriad for an even larger and harder to deal with army.
There is also The Cyber-Controller, which mills our opponents, steals the creatures that are milled and turns them into 2/2 Cyberman artifact creatures and gives our other artifact creatures +1/+1.

The last thing we need is a way to control the battlefield, and make sure that we can get damage through with our army of creatures.
Delete is the flavorful and functional option because it doesn’t affect our artifact creatures and even if we take some damage, Cult of Skaro should be having our opponents lose 4 life around 25% of the time, especially if we have a ton of copies of it meaning we aren’t as badly hurt from it.
There is also Magus of the Abyss, which destroys a nonartifact creature at the beginning of that player’s turn, Winter, Cursed Rider to give our artifacts “Ward – Pay 2 life” and can exile some artifacts from our graveyard to give other nonartifact creatures -X/-X where X is the number of artifacts exiled, and Thopter Engineer to give our artifact creatures haste.
Cult of Skaro is an interesting Commander that has a lot of flexibility in how to play with them. The token copies version of the deck can pivot into a massive swarm of artifact creatures or we could add in some pure artifact value engines to get even more benefits.
Maybe there is some benefit to being a Dalek after all…
Thank you for reading, see you tomorrow on the next Daily Commander!
Peace,
From, J.M. Casual
