Hello and welcome to Daily Commander!
Today we are going to be talking about Gallia of the Endless Dance!

Gallia is a two mana 2/2 with haste, gives other Satyrs you control +1/+1 and haste and whenever you attack with three or more creatures you may discard a card at random to draw two cards.
Looking at Satyr’s as a creature type, they don’t have much cohesion together other than, at least generally speaking, being made for fast aggro strategies, especially with Gallia at the helm.
There are however some interesting ways we can use these Satyrs because of their varied abilities and instead focus on having a toolbox of Satyrs that we can use for whatever situation we need.

We’ll start with looking at Satyrs that provide a solid general utility that we can use in any strategy.
Voyaging Satyr is such a card because it simply allows us to untap a land, which is always generally helpful. In a similar vein there is also Portent Tracker, which also untaps a land, but also either removes a counter from a Battle or adds a counter to one depending on who is defending it.
Rootrider Faun can either add a green mana or filter to another color, Satyr Hedonist can sacrifice itself to add extra red mana, Satyr Wayfinder digs through our deck to find us some lands, and we can use Loamcrafter Faun to discard some lands from our hand to return some nonland permanents from our graveyard to our hand.
There are also Satyrs like Irreverent Revelers and Wild Celebrants which destroy artifacts when they enter, and there is also Reckless Reveler which can sacrifice itself to destroy an artifact.
Since there is some self sacrifice aspects going on, we can also use Blood Aspirant which gets bigger whenever we sacrifice a permanent and we can pay some mana to sacrifice a creature or enchantment to deal 1 damage to a creature and prevent it from blocking for a turn.

There are a few themes that Satyrs bring with them that we can also use to help give some definition to the deck.
Satyr Hoplite and Setessan Oathsworn have Heroic in which if we cast a spell that targets Satyr Hoplite gets a +1/+1 counter while Setessan Oathsworn gets two +1/+1 counters, and that pairs well with Boon Satyr which has Bestow to give a creature +4/+2.
There is also some Constellation benefits that we can make use of like with Composer of Spring, which lets us put a land onto the battlefield when an enchantment enters the battlefield under our control, but if we control six or more enchantments then we can choose either a creature or land and put it onto the battlefield instead.
We also have access to a typal Lure effect with Satyr Piper, which for some mana we can force a creature to be blocked, which doesn’t specify our own creatures meaning that if we play some goad cards like Coronation of Chaos, we can force some creatures our opponents control to attack and force them to be blocked by our other opponents to manipulate the board a bit.
Speaking of controlling the board a bit, there is also Satyr Firedancer, which deals damage to a creature if we happen to use an instant or sorcery to deal damage to an opponent. This allows us to play a spell that does damage like Destructive Revelry which deals damage to an opponent after destroying an artifact or enchantment they control and deal a bit extra to a creature to either finish it off or gets rid of a small utility creature.

Now we get onto the weird Satyrs that no one would expect us to play because they have never seen them before.
Willow Satyr is the most expensive Satyr because they are on the Reserved List, but they allow us to steal a legendary creature and keep control of it as long as it is tapped and we can choose to not untap it if we want to keep an opponents Commander or combo legendary creature, which we can do immediately if we have Gallia in play since she gives our other Satyr’s haste.
Lumbering Satyr is a card that gives all creature forestwalk, which would normally only be bad for us since we are most likely playing some amount of Forests, but if we play Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth then everyone has a Forest, thus making every creature unable to be blocked.
Gruff Triplets is a solid Satyr card to have that can deal a ton of damage since it has trample and comes with two other token copies of itself, and when dies it puts +1/+1 counters equal to its power one each creature named Gruff Triplets.
While we can’t make token copies of the original Gruff Triplets since it doesn’t make extra Gruff Triplets if its a token, but we can still make copies that sacrifice themselves like with a Electroduplicate to make our other Gruff Triplets bigger when that token dies.
Gallia is an interesting typal Commander in that Satyrs don’t have a definite play style, but they do have a ton of variety in what they do that we can toolbox them and still do decently. I don’t think that there are enough extremely powerful Satyrs that we can use to swing games massively in our favor, but there are plenty of decent utility Satyrs that we can use to have a chance.
And if all of that fails, Satyrs generally have decent stats so they can at least attack for a decent amount of damage immediately if Gallia is in play if nothing else.
Thank you for reading, see you tomorrow for the next Daily Commander!
Peace,
From, J.M. Casual
