Hello and welcome to Daily Commander!
Today we are going to be talking about Koma, World-Eater!

Koma is a seven mana 8/12 that cannot be countered, has trample, ward 4, and whenever Koma deals combat damage to a player, you make four 3/3 blue Serpent creature tokens named Koma’s Coil.
Koma is a massive creature that not only wants to get damage through, but also make a bunch of tokens whenever it does so. There are ways we can make use of that, as well as working to make sure we can use our Serpents to the best of their abilities.

The first thing that we need to do is make sure we get some value for the Serpents that we make, as well as other Serpents that we can use.
Koma, Cosmos Serpent is the previous iteration and makes a Koma’s Coil token at the beginning of each upkeep and allows us to sacrifice a Serpent to tap a target permanent and prevents it from activating its abilities. and give itself indestructible.
Speaking of Serpents we can use for value, Junk Winder has affinity for tokens and whenever a token enters under our control, we tap target nonland permanent an opponent controls and that permanent doesn’t untap during it’s controllers next untap step.
Whenever Shrouded Serpent attacks the defending player may pay 4 and if they don’t then it can’t be blocked, Xolatoyac helps make our lands into Islands and at the beginning of our end step it untaps each permanent with a counter on it, and Sword Coast Serpent can bounce a creature with its Adventure side and a creature that cannot be blocked as long as you’ve cast a noncreature spell this turn.
To help us get closer to closing the game, we also have access to Serpent of Yawning Depths, which makes all of our Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses, and Serpents unable to be blocked except by other Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses, and Serpents.

Since we benefit from having a lot of Koma’s Coil tokens, any way that we can get to make more of them will be a plus.
Adrix and Nev, Twincasters are among one of the better ways to double the number of tokens we make, which means with World-Eater we make eight Koma’s Coil tokens when it deals combat damage and Cosmos Serpent makes two Koma’s Coil tokens at the beginning of each upkeep.
We can use Curiosity Crafter as a way for our tokens to draw us a card whenever a creature token we control deals combat damage and gives us no maximum hand size and Combine Chrysalis gives our creature tokens flying and we can sacrifice a token to make a 4/4 Beast as a sorcery.
Populate is also a mechanic that we can use, so something like Full Flowering can help make us a ton of Koma’s Coil tokens in the late game. And if we have a token doubler out like Adrix and Nev, then we can get double to tokens from it.
Once we have hit critical mass in tokens, then we can use Parallel Evolution to create a copy of each of our token creatures and has Flashback so we can do it again to make even more. We can even cast Second Harvest to do it another time for even more tokens.

The way we win should be pretty clear, we swarm our opponents with an army of Koma’s Coil tokens.
Murkfiend Liege helps give our creatures a buff, while also allowing us to be a bit more cavalier with our attacks since we can untap all of our green and/or blue creatures at each player’s untap step.
We are also going to be playing a lot of support cards in order to guarantee our board stays safe from removal spells, so we are actually going to be playing a counter spells like Voidslime, which counters not only spells, but also activated and triggered abilities.
Decisive Denial is a modal spell that can either be a fight spell or a counter spell that targets a noncreature spell unless its controller pays 4. Speaking of, fight and bite spells like Bite Down or can help us get rid of creatures that our opponents are too skittish to attack as our board gets bigger.
To give us even more token potential we can use Octomancer to give an opponent an 8/8 Octopus, copy it at the beginning of our end step, and then make an addition Koma’s Coil token at the end step of each turn as well as the beginning of each turn.
Koma is a value Commander, in which the value comes from an army of tokens. There is always the risk of our board being wiped, but that is the risk of every go wide deck. We have the luxury that a lot of targeted removal spells won’t be great against Koma, and we have access to counter spells for board wipes or mass bounce.
Thank you for reading, see you tomorrow for the next Daily Commander!
Peace,
From, J.M. Casual
