Hello and welcome to Daily Commander!
Today we are going to be talking about Glissa, the Traitor!

Glissa is a three mana 3/3 with first strike, deathtouch and whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, you may return an artifact from your graveyard to your hand.
Artifact recursion in black and green is pretty unusual, but having an off color strategy is always a fun challenge to explore, and there are a few routes that we can take with this. There have been a few cards released in the past few years that we can take advantage of Glissa’s abilities.
There is also a way we can incorporate a Vehicles strategy with this Glissa, especially since we can bring back any Vehicle that dies with Glissa’s ability.

We first need to look for artifacts or artifact creatures that help us accrue value when we play more artifacts.
With the release of the Necron precon, we have access to a ton of artifacts and artifact creatures that help us, like Canoptek Spyder which draws us a card whenever a nontoken artifact creature or Vehicle enters.
Psychomancer drains an opponent for 1 whenever it or another nontoken artifact is put into the graveyard or exiled, Necron Deathmark destroys a creature and mills a player three cards, and Imotekh the Stormlord creates two 2/2 Necron Warrior tokens whenever an artifact leaves your graveyard and gives an artifact creature we control menace and +2/+2.
We aren’t only going to be playing Necron cards, when Armix, Filigree Thrasher attacks it gives a creature the defending player controls -X/-X until end of turn where X is the number of artifacts we control and the number of artifacts in our graveyard.
There is also Noxious Gearhulk, which when it enters it destroys a creature and allows us to gain life equal to that creatures toughness. We can also use Haywire Mite as a way to exile a noncreature artifact or noncreature enchantment when we sacrifice it, which can become repeatable if we manage to kill a creature as well.

The next part I want to focus on is the Vehicle suite, which should have several varieties of Vehicles that help us establish some board presence.
Esika’s Chariot is an ideal option because not only does it create two bodies when it enters, but whenever it attacks we can create a token copy of a token we control, meaning at base we can make another Cat token, which isn’t bad.
We can also use the newly released Demonic Junker, which has affinity for artifacts and when it enters it destroys up to one creature each player controls and if we destroy a creature we control then we put two +1/+1 counters on it.
There is also Thunderous Velocipede, which not only has trample but it gives each other Vehicle and creature we control that enters a +1/+1 counter if its mana value is 4 or less, otherwise it gives three +1/+1 counters to it.
A ramp option in Lumbering Worldwagon that gets stronger for each land you control, Foreboding Steamboat as a way to exile a bunch of creatures for a period of time, Thundering Broodwagon for removal, and Debris Beetle for a drain.
We also have a plethora of colorless options, like Smuggler’s Copter to draw us some cards, Nautiloid Ship for removal and stealing our opponents creatures, Reckoner Bankbuster for card draw and Treasure generation, and Reaver Titan as a way to help close out the game.

Our game plan is more of a slower midrange plan where our goal is to do a bunch of recursion.
Rise of the Witch-King is a solid enough removal spell that can allow us to bring a creature back while also getting rid of a bunch of our opponents creatures. To help us get into that position we can use Grisly Salvage to get a creature or land to put into our hand and put the rest into the graveyard.
Marionette Apprentice is a good option because not only does it make an extra artifact creature, but whenever an artifact or creature we control goes to the graveyard then each opponent loses 1 life.
As far as how else we get value, we can use Bolas’s Citadel as a way to get things onto the battlefield at the cost of some life and then sacrifice ten nonland permanents to have each opponent lose 10 life, which is a massive life swing against four players.
Glissa allows for an artifact recursion strategy that falls more into the midrange spectrum, so the way we win is going to be managing to survive the long game. We should play a lot of removal, plenty of board wipes, and have artifacts that we want to have access to.
Thank you for reading, see you tomorrow for the next Daily Commander!
Peace,
From, J.M. Casual
