Hello and welcome to Daily Commander!
Today we are going to be talking about Rendmaw, Creaking Nest!

Rendmaw is a five mana 5/5 with menace, reach, and whenever it enters and whenever you play a card with two or more types, each player creates a tapped 2/2 black Bird creature token with flying that are goaded for the rest of the game.
It’s not often you have Commanders that care about multiple card types, and Rendmaw is a unique one in that it’s almost a Group Hug/Group Slug sort of playstyle in giving everyone a creature token that must attack someone else for the rest of the game.
So the plan is to play a bunch of cards that have multiple card types while also having ways to make use of having multiple card types.

We need to begin with a whole host of creatures that have multiple types, mostly because that will be the easiest way to fulfill Rendmaw’s ability.
Destiny Spinner is perfect because it prevents our creatures and enchantments from being countered, which can also include any artifact creatures like Rendmaw.
As far as artifact creatures go, we have access to a bunch of mana dorks like Leaden Myr, Copper Myr, Palladium Myr, Twitching Doll, and Manakin to name a few options.
We can also make use of the oft forgotten Kindred (formerly Tribal) spells, which have a range of effects like Eyeblight’s Ending to destroy a non-Elf creature, Idol of False Gods to get some mana dorks in play while eventually becoming a huge threat in the late game, and Rootgrapple to destroy a noncreature permanent.

The next thing we need to get are ways to get benefits from having multiple card types in the graveyard.
Nothing says interacting with card types than Lhurgoyf spells, especially Tarmogoyf, so being able to make a Tarmogoyf token for three mana with Tarmogoyf Nest is a solid deal. It’s even two card types which is even better.
We can also use Polygoyf, which not only has the Tarmogoyf ability but also has trample and myriad, meaning that we can get multiple copies of it that can get damage through fairly easily.
There are also creatures that are Goyf’s in spirit like Consuming Blob, which has the Tarmogoyf ability and makes an Ooze token with the same ability at the beginning of the end step and Lord of Extinction which cares about the number of cards in all graveyards.
Of course we also have access to cards with Delirium, like Demolisher Spawn which gives our creatures +4/+4 whenever they attack when we hit Delirium and Convert to Slime to destroy an artifact, enchantment, and creature and if we have Delirium then we make an Ooze with power and toughness equal to the total mana value of what we destroyed.

The way we win would be with the massive flock of Birds everyone will get, but we should have ways to accelerate us to victory.
Baba Lysaga, Night Witch is a neat card because we can sacrifice three permanents and if there were three or more card types among them, then each opponent loses 3 life, we gain 3 life, and draw three cards.
We can use Springheart Nantuko as a way to make token copies of creatures, so any of our big Goyfs, whenever we play a land and pay one and a green, Pygmy Kavu can draw us a ton of cards when we distribute a ton of Birds, and Renata, Called to the Hunt to give any of our creatures enter with an additional +1/+1 counter, meaning our Birds become 3/3s instead of 2/2s.
If we really want to speed things up and want to play into a bit of a Group Slug strategy, then we can also play Primal Vigor which gives everyone double the tokens and double the +1/+1 counters, and since the Birds we give our opponents must attack, we are safe from any attacks they make and give ourselves the edge when we go on the offensive.
Rendmaw is very straightforward, and there isn’t too much room to allow for much deviation, in my opinion. Rendmaw is functional, and is very good in what it does don’t get me wrong, it’s just not my favorite sort of Commander.
Thank you for reading, see you tomorrow for the next Daily Commander!
Peace,
