Hello and welcome to the Weekly Round-Up!
This one is coming out earlier than the other ones and will help make sure that everyone is up to speed since next week is going to be my big trip!
Let’s get this thing started!
Daily Commander
This week we finished all the potential color combinations and delved back into some familiar territory in some random Commanders.
Ending the four color Commanders was Atraxa, Praetors’ Voice, who we decided to lean into proliferating Sagas and keeping it “lower powered”.
After that we delved into colorless artifact sacrificing meeting a Voltron strategy with Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender and a game of us gaining life and our opponents losing life through attrition with Dina, Soul Steeper.
Rushing we followed up with a Commander from Aetherdrift in Mendicant Core, Guidelight and ways to get up to max speed to copy our artifacts and a low mana reanimator strategy using Lurrus of the Dream Den.
Diving into a drawback Commander we looked at Rakdos the Defiler and all the Demons he brings in then went tall using our lands using Kamahl, Fist of Krosa.
This was a fun week and a very exploratory week for Daily Commander and I have a tough time picking which of these were my favorite. If I had to pick one it would be Rakdos the Defiler because playing with a drawback Commander leads to a lot more creative thinking when building the deck, which I love.
Daily Commander will continue on through my time away, so don’t worry about that! I am getting those worked on and should have them done before I leave (hopefully)!
Casual Chat and Magic Project: Omega
This week we continued on card based Casual Chats and took a crack at developing some guides for Project Magic: Omega.
The Casual Chat this week talked about Rotation in card games, why it is done and the good and bad things about them. It came out pretty well in my opinion and allowed me to take a look at a controversial topic in card games in a nuanced way.
Magic Project: Omega took a look at designing signpost Uncommons in the set by exploring the Allied colors first as well as clarifying a couple of design goals that I didn’t mention in the first of this series of blogs.
This was interesting to do because designing the archetypes of the set while looking to maintain what ABU did originally was difficult, but I think I managed something interesting.
As a reminder, Casual Chats will continue while I am on my trip, but Magic Super Cube, Magic Project: Omega, and the Weekly Round-Ups will be taking breaks while I am taking my break, but there will be a Magic Super Cube up this week covering Revised!
In Conclusion
As we head into the final stretch before my trip I do have to say thank you to everyone. I have been noticing that traffic to the site has been growing more and more recently, and it does feel like this site is getting some notice.
I do appreciate every read, every like, and every comment and seeing them all grow does do one to help motivate me to continue, so please continue to read, like, comment, and share these blogs out!
Thank you for reading, and talk to you all when I get back! I will be posting some pictures on the BlueSky, so keep an eye there!
Peace,
From, J.M. Casual
