Hello and welcome to Daily Commander!
Today we are going to be talking about Rienne, Angel of Rebirth!

Rienne is a five mana 5/4 with flying and other multicolored creatures you control get +1/+0 and whenever another multicolored creature you control dies, return it to your hand at the beginning of the next end step.
Rienne being a Commander that explicitly cares about multicolor can lead to a bunch of strategies, but the one that interests me is using one of my favorite deck archetypes to emerge: Bard Class Legends.
The goal of the deck is to use a bunch of legendary creatures onto the battlefield for cheap, and to overwhelm our opponents in value by using the enchantment Bard Class. I have used a red and green version of the deck in Explorer as well as a goofy red, green, white version that I can use as a base to make this deck work.

Our deck is going to revolve around Bard Class, so our deck needs to have ways to get it onto the battlefield as soon as possible.
For those who don’t know, Bard Class is a Class enchantment card that at level 1 gives our legendary creatures a +1/+1 counter when they enter the battlefield, level 2 makes legendary spells cheaper by red and green, and level 3 allows us to exile the top two cards of our library whenever we cast a legendary spell.
The hardest part of this strategy is making sure we get Bard Class onto the battlefield, which if we want maximum consistency we need tutors. There are a couple of enchantment specific tutors like Moon-Blessed Cleric and Plea for Guidance that can be expensive mana wise but affordable, and Idyllic Tutor and Enlightened Tutor if you want cheaper mana wise, but pricier options.
If you don’t want to tutor, you can use effects like Commune with Spirits, which let you look at the top four cards of your library, reveal a land or enchantment and put it into your hand.
Since we want to lean into legendary matters, we also have access to Calix, Destiny’s Hand to do what Commune with Spirits does, as well as exile an opponent’s creature, or return any enchantments from our graveyard to the battlefield.

The next thing we need to do is find a large number of cheap legendary spells so that we can cast to get as many bodies on the field as possible.
Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh is one such option because he’s already a zero cost legendary creature that we can automatically include.
Remember, Bard Class counts any legendary spell, not just creatures, so any other cheap legendary spells like Hope of Ghirapur, Kellen, Planar Trailblazer, Oath of Nissa, and a bunch of others that we can cast for cheap or for free if we have levelled up Bard Class.
If we have something like Instrument of Bards, then each turn we get a harmony counter that we can bank up to tutor another legendary creature into our hand each turn and since it’s a legendary we also make a Treasure token.
Mana does become an issue for some of the creatures we are planning to play since Bard Class only discounts the colored mana cost, but we can play cards like Azusa, Lost but Seeking to play extra lands or Birgi, God of Storytelling to make a red mana whenever we cast a spell.
If you have access to Mox Amber then that is a very accessible way to ramp since it cares about legendary creatures and Planeswalkers.

While we may be able to get a bunch of legendary onto the battlefield and offer some form of protection in the form of Rienne’s ability, we still need a win condition.
Samut, Voice of Dissent is one such finisher because they give all of your creatures haste so that they can go in for one huge swing.
If you need more damage than Jetmir, Nexus of Revels is your answer in that regard because not only does he give your creatures a buff in terms of a +1/+0 for the each factor of three creatures you have until you hit nine creatures, but he also gives your creatures vigilance, trample, and double strike in that order to help you get that last swing of damage in.
You can potentially even do a burn plan with Quintorius Kand because whenever you cast a spell from exile you deal 2 damage to each opponent and gain 2 life. If you can get the chain to keep going, then you can win the game that way.
Rienne is not necessarily the reason why we are winning the game, but her giving our creatures an additional boost as well as some form of protection for our creatures does make her worth having access to in the Command Zone.
Thank you for reading, see you tomorrow for the next Daily Commander!
Peace,
From, J.M. Casual
