Hello and welcome to the Weekly Round-Up!
We had quite a few blogs this week, and a special announcement for yet another new one because I have no self control and have the need to write.
Here is a recap of last week’s blogs and what’s coming up in the week!
Daily Commander
We begin the week trying to get permanents into the graveyard as fast as possible with The Ancient One.
Then we started looking to cheat big creatures in with Akul, the Unrepentant followed by copying big spells with Wort, the Raidmother.
Coming from the halls of the undead is King of the Oathbreakers to get a ton of Spirits into play, and then Rielle, the Everwise who attempts to draw and discard so many cards that you may lose to decking out.
We then worked on a Super Friends build with Carth the Lion and a spellslinger control deck with Velomachus Lorehold to close out the week.
This was an interesting set of Commanders because they all presented unique challenges, and of them I would say that Carth the Lion was my favorite for the week because looking for black and green synergies for Planeswalkers was interesting.
Casual Chat and Magic Super Cube
We had another different Casual Super Chat this week in that I talked about and did a review of Sakamoto Days Episodes 1 and 2.
I haven’t done a proper review on something in a while, and I think it could have been done in a shorter and more concise way, but I am a notorious windbag in real life and in my writing, so it was to be expected.
We also took a look back into the Magic Super Cube and adding cards from Arabian Nights to the Cube. This has been a fun project that I cannot wait to continue, so much so that I’ve already started looking ahead and planning on what’s coming next.
You can click Cube to see the current cards in the pool.
The Casual Chat this week will be a topic on cards and card games again, though I have yet to settle on an ideal one.
No Magic Super Cube this week, but I do have a fun blog to alternate it with.
New Blog Announcement
Alternating with the Magic Super Cube and showing up this Wednesday is going to be a project I am calling…
Magic Project: Omega!
It is going to be a custom Magic the Gathering set of 270 cards, with high powered cards that are inspired off of Alpha, Beta, and Unlimited.
The Omega cards will be referencing Alpha cards, but will be made with current design sensibilities and at a much higher power level than a Standard set or even a Modern set.
Why do this?
I want to test out my own card design abilities and hopefully get people involved in giving feedback about the cards, and if possible even help make some cards in the future.
There will not be a set number of cards per blog, though it’ll probably range from about five to ten cards per blog.
It’s going to be challenging and to save some time for me there will likely not be any art for the cards (at least at first) because I don’t want to reuse other cards art, use art without permission, or use AI art.
If some artists want to donate their art for cards then by all means, but for now the cards that will be made will be blank.
In Conclusion
It’s always fun starting new blogs, even if it does pile things up on my plate and does complicate some things.
I do this because it’s fun, and I like being experimental and weird sometimes.
If you want to help support this endeavor please check out the Ko-Fi link and follow my Bluesky, where I will be actively working to make an effort to post more than blog announcements there.
Until next time, see ya!
Peace,
From, J.M. Casual
