Hello and welcome to the Weekly Round-Up!

I’m going to be talking about what I’ve done and what I am planning to do, so sit tight and let’s get this thing rolling!

Daily Commander

Daily Commander has been going well so let’s get going over that.

To begin on Christmas Eve I talked about Grimgrin, Corpse-Born and how to go tall without going into the traditional Zombie typal strategies.

Then on Christmas Day I had Zedruu the Greathearted and conceived of a deck whose goal was not to win, but to have everyone else win.

Belbe, Corrupted Observer was making use of damaging everyone to get a bunch of mana to cast big mana spells.

Bruse Tarl, Roving Rancher played around with cards exiling themselves while getting the benefits from them by making a herd of Oxen.

A bit of self mill and a lot of reanimation came from Sedris, the Traitor King, and while a bit old it still has some fun to be had.

Then we started getting Cats armed and ready by using Khemba, Kha Regent and making use of a go tall Equipment strategy that could pivot into a go wide Cat typal strategy.

Ending things up was a build an Elfball Commander by using Jolrael Mwonvuli Recluse, in that I mean making big mana and big creatures to swing for game.

I will admit some of these blogs were rushed because of my personal life getting hectic with the holiday season and a side gig I have going crazy. That has mostly settled and I should be in a better state to get the blogs in order.

Of the Daily Commanders that I did, I would say that Kemba, Kha Regent is my favorite of the week, more so that I do enjoy a deck that has a backup plan and when a deck can pivot.

Casual Chat

So this week I decided to do something a little different with the Casual Chat and talked about something that wasn’t related to card games at all and talked about Kaiju and a brief history of giant monsters in film.

I did a bit of research and did a massive blog post on it because I do enjoy giant monster movies and talking about them.

While the blog didn’t do as well as I would have hoped, that won’t stop me from sprinkling these sort of blogs in.

I don’t want to pigeon hole myself into talking only about card games, and while that will still be the bulk of my content, I will alternate and talk about other things that I enjoy.

Upcoming

I can say for Daily Commanders, I am going to be going old school and talk about Commanders from Legends, because as we head into the new year I feel like reflection is something that can help us see how things have changed.

I will do my best to make some of these Commanders work, but keep in mind that a lot of them are…outdated to say the least.

As far as the Casual Chat, this week we’ll take a dive back into card games and take a look at keywords, their functions and why sometimes they can not be ideal for a game.

Social Media

To market myself a bit, I do have my Bluesky account still and still need to work on being more active on it.

It is not something that I am used to and am working to get better at.

I also have the Ko-Fi account and want to promote that, and of course only donate if you want to and are able to. I have thought about rewarding people who donate get something in return, but not something exclusive.

Maybe first access to something, but that is still something I haven’t decided yet. For now it will remain as it is, so if you like my content and are able to throw something in then you can if you want to.

I have also considered streaming, but again not sure what. I will be gone for two weeks late February, so maybe after that for a more consistent schedule of streams, but otherwise that is something else I am looking into.

Would you guys want me to stream games or writing something? Maybe a collaborative stream where we write something? I genuinely want to hear thoughts and opinions and ideas so I can start planning things.

Also, since I am not the best at self promotion, I would ask those who read to help out. If you think that more people should read these, then please share the links.

It will help eyes get on the blog so I can make improvements and you all can get better content out of me.

Also, please like and comment the blogs, I enjoy interacting with you all and I try to reply to the comments as soon as I can.

In Conclusion

Thank you all for reading, and I hope that you have a wonderful New Years!

I am getting ready for a personal trip in February, but I will talk more about that as we get closer to the date, and I am mentally preparing myself for all the blogs that I need to write to make sure I keep the site afloat, but there is an excitement to all of that.

See you all next time!

Peace,

From, J.M. Casual
