Hello and welcome to Daily Commander!

Today we are going to be talking about Khorvath Brightflame and Sylvia Brightspear!

Khorvath is a six mana 3/4 with flying, haste and Knights your team controls have flying and haste and Sylvia is a three mana 2/2 with double strike and Dragons your team controls have double strike and they both have Partner with the other.

A double feature today that focuses on a double typal strategy, one being Knights which are often cheaper mana wise and Dragons which are typically expensive mana wise.

They make each other more effective, but the potential issue is trying to get both of these onto the battlefield at the same time.

So our goal here is to get these two onto the battlefield in an efficient manner.

While they may have issues ramping, white and red have unique ways to get ramp.

White ramp tends to be catch up ramp, which means that if an opponent has more lands than you do then you can get at least one land to catch up to it, Knight of the White Orchid being one that is both on type and has this effect.

Red has more burst ramp, which means that they can get a lot of mana in a short amount of time but only for a little while, usually as a ritual effect or through Treasures.

Making things a little more effective are mana storages like Glittering Stockpile, which primarily acts as a mana rock but can make a huge amount of mana all at once when we need it.

There are also plenty of other cards that make Dragons explicitly cheaper because they are often expensive to cast and people really like Dragons.

During the time we are setting up to get our two Commanders in play, we need to make sure that we survive to do so.

Boros Charm is one of the better protection spells in our repertoire because of its flexibility in being a burn spell, protection or an additional way to give a creature double strike if we need that creature to survive a combat.

Something like Deflecting Palm is great to have just in case an opponent wants to a big swing in our direction and instead burn them right back.

If you are able to get a couple of damage multipliers like a Twinflame Tyrant or a Torbran, Thane of Red Fell than that would make Deflecting Palm potentially lethal.

Now we focus on how we win. With us hopefully having enough mana in getting our Commanders onto the battlefield, then we shouldn’t have too much of an issue in casting big mana things, ideally.

Warren Warleader at four mana is good because it could make more creatures or be an anthem for our attacking creatures, but if we were to get its Offspring ability off, then we turn a small anthem into a bigger anthem.

With something like Utvara Hellkite we should be able to propagate more and more Dragons, which then makes things an issue for our opponents if we can get a decent number of Dragons.

In a perfect world we get a bunch of huge Dragons and Knights with flying, haste, and double strike and swing out for the game.

Again, this is in an ideal world because this sort of aggro deck takes a while to set up and is definitely something that can be interacted with to hinder us before we get moving.

The payoff is very much worth it in my opinion, but be aware that Khorvath and Sylvia very much need the other on the battlefield with a bunch of support to have a chance at winning.

Thank you for reading, see you tomorrow for the next Daily Commander!

Peace,

From, J.M. Casual
