Hello and welcome to Daily Commander!
Today we are going to be taking a look at Me, the Immortal!

Me is a 5 mana 3/3 that at the beginning of combat on your turn you can give them either a +1/+1, first strike, vigilance, or menace counter. Any counter on Me remains in any other zone other than the library or hand and you may cast Me from the graveyard by discarding two other cards and paying Me’s other costs.
Our first Universes Beyond Commander is not too difficult to build around, but it does have a neat ability that focuses on ability counters, which stay on most of the time.
This means that Me can have as many counters and not be problem because of the way that your Commander interacts with being put into any other location to instead return into the Command Zone.
Now that we have an idea of what to do, we need to put some unique counters on Me.

Ability counters aren’t uncommon in these colors, but they are usually on creatures that give themselves the counters when certain conditions are met.
That doesn’t mean that cards that give ability counters to other creatures don’t exist, they are just fewer than we would like.
Something like Zephyr Singer is actually pretty good for us to make use of when Me first comes onto the board when we have a couple of other creatures so that we can use Convoke to bring it out and distribute the flying counters.
This is also helped by something like Titanoth Rex, which gives a creature you control a trample counter when it Cycles.
We also have access to some protection in the form of indestructible counters.

While it may take a bit for Tyrite Sanctum to be effective, this is still a way to be effective for mana generation, provide additional +1/+1 counters, and even be a way to give Me indestructible.
The ideal goal is to keep a sort of defensive strategy and keep your opponents on their toes, all while growing Me into a massive threat that can swing out for game later on.
Now that we have an idea, we should also consider the last ability that Me has, and think about what cards we can discard to have some sort of value.
While Feldon from yesterday wanted to have creatures go to the graveyard and stay there to return to the battlefield, we should have a way to get value from discarding in general.

Madness is great to have, and plentiful in blue and red, as it allows to always have an ideal target to discard, while also netting something positive in the end.
Plenty of Madness costs are cheaper than the actual card, or have additional effects if the Madness cost is paid, but even something like the Rootwalla’s which have a Madness cost of 0 can be effective in getting more creatures in play.
Again, we are going for a defensive strategy in which we can accumulate resources until we can swing wide later in the game.
Me is interesting for being a simple Commander in concept, but can definitely be a problem as the game progresses as counter accumulate and coalesce into a powerful creature that can win the game if you can drag it out for a while.
Thank you for reading, see you tomorrow for the next Daily Commander!
Peace,
From, J.M. Casual
